How Does Key&Box Work?

Imagine sending a lockable box to someone. You want them to put a file inside, but you also want to make sure only you can open it

This is true end-to-end security. The sender controls who can access the files, and no one else—not hackers, not service providers, not even us—can see inside.

Sending an Open Box

You have a special kind of box that only locks once-after that, no one can open it except you.

This is like a public key-it's safe to share because it only locks the box, not unlock it.

You send the open box to someone, asking them to put a file inside.

Locking the Box

The recipient simply places the file inside and locks the box.

Once it's locked, not even they can open it again-only you can.

This ensures that no one else (not even Key & Box) can access the file.

Unlocking the Box

When the locked box comes back to you, you use your private key to open it.

The private key is like a unique key that only you own-no one else can copy it.

Now you can see the file safely, knowing that no one else could have peeked inside.

How is this different to Email & File Storage and Transfer Solutions?

Email

Most emails don’t encrypt your attachments—they just rely on passwords. If your email is hacked, your files are exposed. This is not a safe option.

Cloud Storage

Most file-sharing services and client portals hold the encryption keys themselves, meaning they technically have access to your files.

Key&Box

With Key and Box, only you hold the private key. Not even we can open your files—only the person who owns the private key can unlock the box.
